in a Groundbreaking Study
on Inner Freedom
A randomized controlled study examining the psychological effects of The Switch, a structured identity exploration process.
Limited to 50 participants in the first wave.
Do you carry a belief about yourself that feels more real than any counter-evidence?
For example:
“I am not enough.”
“I always fail.”
“I cannot change.”
“This is simply who I am.”
Even when circumstances contradict such beliefs, they often persist.
This study examines whether structured shifts in self-perception can alter that persistence — and whether such shifts can be measured.
About the Study
This study is conducted as a randomized controlled trial (RCT), one of the most rigorous research designs in psychological science.
The study is carried out in collaboration with:
- University of Sussex
- Kinneret College on the Sea of Galilee
The objective is to examine the measurable effects of a structured identity exploration method known as The Switch.
Participants contribute to the development of an evidence base in the field of identity and perceptual flexibility, while personally engaging in the structured process being studied.
About the Method
What Is The Switch?
The Switch is a structured, guided process designed to explore rigid self-perceptions and identity patterns.
It is not psychotherapy. It is not medical treatment. It does not rely on affirmations or positive thinking techniques.
The process involves:
- Clearly formulating a limiting self-perception
- Identifying and embodying its complementary identity
- Moving between both perspectives
- Observing the psychological effects of this movement
The method is experiential and body-based.
It investigates whether identity can be consciously shifted and whether such shifts produce measurable psychological change.
The Process
Study Structure
Because this is a randomized controlled study, participants are assigned to one of two timing conditions.
Some participants begin the four-session process shortly after acceptance.
Others begin after a waiting period of approximately one month.
The waiting condition is part of the study design and does not reduce access to the intervention. All participants complete the same four-session process.
All participants will:
- Complete one questionnaire before sessions begin
- Complete one questionnaire after Session Four
- Complete one follow-up questionnaire approximately one month later
This structure allows for objective comparison of outcomes.
Participation Requirements and Conditions
Participation in this study involves both structured sessions and research responsibilities.
Structure
- Four weekly online sessions (60–75 minutes each)
- Three standardized research questionnaires in total:
- One after acceptance and before the first session
- One immediately after completion of the fourth session
- One approximately one month after completion
Because this is a randomized controlled study, participants may begin shortly after acceptance or after a waiting period of approximately one month. All participants complete the same four-session process and the same three questionnaires.
Eligibility
Participants must:
- Be fluent in English (all sessions are conducted in English)
- Be able to attend four weekly online sessions
- Be willing to complete all required questionnaires
This study is designed for psychologically stable adults.
It is not suitable for individuals in acute psychological crisis or for those currently under treatment for a severe psychiatric condition involving prescribed psychiatric medication.
Clear boundaries ensure participant safety and research integrity
Participation Fee
The total participation fee is 200€ (50€ per session).
The Switch is normally offered privately at standard professional rates.
For the purpose of this study, it is offered at a research-reduced rate.
Payment is made directly to the assigned practitioner after acceptance.
This is participation in a structured research project rather than a commercial coaching program.
Completion Acknowledgment
After completing:
- All four sessions
- All three research questionnaires
Participants will receive complimentary access to a 21-day challenge with Shai Tubali.
This is offered as a gesture of appreciation for full participation in the research process.
Access will be granted after the final follow-up questionnaire has been completed.
